Hi, my name is Shawna, I’m 34 years old and happily married. My husband Brett and I are in the beginning stages of a 20 week transformation to be able to compete in a bodybuilding/figure competition June 8, 2013. We live in the Springfield, MO area and both work full time jobs. Well, I work fulltime, my husband works 12 hour days, which is more than full time in my opinion. We still make ourselves workout 5 days a week with two off days on Wednesday and Sunday. We lift weights and do cardio each day. Brett is the cook of the family and prepares our meals every night for the next day. Follow us while I update our progress throughout the next 16 weeks. Wish us luck!

  1. Good luck with your competition!

After losing 115lbs by diet alone I have been training for the past 2 months to compete as well (although I live faaar away from you, all the way up in Canada)

Were you planning on competing in the bikini or figure category?

    • First off, congrats on your weight loss! That’s amazing! Canada, huh? What’s the temperature like there now? I watch Property Virgins on HGTV and Canada looks really pretty! I want to compete in figure, it just seems more respected, but I will do bikini if I am not toned enough for figure. Which one are you doing? I’m heading over to read your blog now.

      It’s nice to meet you!

      • It’s humid… always so humid. LOL

I totally agree, I always wanted to compete in bikini, then I went to a show and idk, I really felt like they were just all sass and no flex!

I am aiming for figure as well, but like you, if I’m not feeling totally confident that I have the look I will do bikini in November then train my butt off for figure for June.

      • I am so excited to meet someone who is going through the same process and aiming for the same goal! I wish there was a show I could do this year but I don’t think there is. I’m also not sure I’ll be ready by November. I will definitely be here to root for you girl! Good luck!!!

    • Awe, thanks kind sir! That made my day this morning! I read your blog, and many others, and sometimes think mine lacks research and useful information others can use in comparison. Basically, it’s all about me and how I’m feeling about this crazy journey I’m on, so I’m glad others enjoy it, especially you! YOU’VE been freshly pressed!!! You are my hero!

      • And that is what makes your blog good, it is about you and the journey you are on. I take inspiration from other people who are putting themselves out there, challenging themselves, setting and achieving goals. People like yourself…How you write the story is far less important.

I struggle somedays to get out there, knowing others are out there makes the difference!! Take care…Baz

    • Thank you so much! You should do it! We only live once right? I just decided I was tired of working out 5 days a week and not seeing results, which I knew was due to diet. Then I went to my first bodybuilding competition and was sold! I so want to be one of those girls on stage with a killer body! But I mainly want to be healthy and lean and feel good about the way I look. Thanks for commenting! 🙂
